Following visits from other Oregon Health Authority staff, Mark Fairbanks, the chief financial officer and chief operating officer for OHA, traveled to Klamath County to visit coordinated care organization Cascade Health Alliance (CHA), last week.

CHA President and CEO Tayo Akins welcomed Fairbanks to a meeting with CHA management. The visit allowed Fairbanks to learn about what is working well with CHA. Ben Milner, a human resources business partner for OHA, also joined Fairbanks on the visit.

During the visit, Fairbanks and Akins discussed social determinants of health, and potential impacts on CHA members. Akins told Fairbanks he hopes to pursue innovative solutions with community partners in Klamath County to help local residents improve their own health and wellbeing.

Fairbanks' trip to the Klamath County CCO follows visits made in June by Oregon Health Authority Director Lynne Saxton and Gov. Kate Brown's Health Care Policy Advisor Jeremy Vandehey, and by two other OHA staff, Dr. Varsha Chauhan, Chief Health Systems Officer, and Rhonda Busek, Provider Services Director.
