Cascade Comprehensive Care, Inc. (CCC) is the parent company for Cascade Health Alliance, the county's coordinated care organization, managing Oregon Health Plan (Medicaid) benefits for 18,000 members in the county.

Blue Zones Project is a community well-being initiative that aims to make healthy choices easier. Based on research by founder Dan Buettner about communities with the highest population of centenarians in the world, the program's goal is to help people live longer and better, lowering healthcare costs, improving productivity and enjoying a higher quality of life.

The employee wellness committee at CCC worked hard to meet Blue Zones requirements for approval, following a long list of suggested healthy company activities. CCC was approved with 86 points, the most of any worksite so far in Klamath Falls, according to local Blue Zones Project staff.

"I'm excited to showcase our own health initiatives and to encourage healthy behaviors for our members and other people in the community," said CCC President and CEO Tayo Akins. "Attaining the most points of any worksite to be Blue Zones certified in Klamath Falls is a testimony of the hard work of our team to focus on healthy behaviors. With 25 years of history in Klamath Falls, we are not just another insurance company, we are an insurance company with a clear mission on making a difference within the community. Promoting healthy behaviors for members of the community to be centenarians is important to us."

A celebration and ribbon cutting is planned for January 19 at 11:30 a.m. at the CCC office. Following the ribbon cutting, and weather permitting, the CCC staff will take a short walk around the neighborhood. Join us in the celebration, and in encouraging healthy choices for everyone in the community.
