Schedule a Ride

Do you need transportation to your medical appointments? TransLink can take you to any appointment or service that is covered by Cascade Health Alliance through our Non-Emergent Medical Transportation (NEMT) program.

Flex Rides may be available for transportation to services/locations not supported by Non-Emergent Medical Transport (NEMT) for CHA and dual members especially. Therefore, rides may only be considered for Flex Rides if they do not qualify for NEMT rides. To schedule a Flex Ride, please contact TransLink.

What is NEMT?

NEMT or Non-Emergent Medical Transportation is a covered benefit for Cascade Health Alliance (CHA) members on the Oregon Health Plan. CHA partners with TransLink to provide this benefit. This benefit is available for eligible people who need travel assistance to and from medical services, and do not have reliable transportation. NEMT rides are for scheduled health care appointments, not emergencies. Depending on your situation, TransLink and CHA can help you get to your appointments in many ways. Examples include:

  • Bus Tokens
  • Taxicab
  • Wheelchair Van
  • Stretcher van
  • Travel reimbursement
  • Common carrier
  • Or other types if necessary

Please note, some rules may apply. For more information call TransLink at 541.842.2060 or toll-free at 1.888.518.8160. The call center is open Monday – Friday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

A hard copy of the Cascade Health Alliance NEMT Rider Guide is available without charge and provided upon request within five (5) business days to members and member representatives. To get a hard copy of the guide, call (541) 883-2947, TTY 711, or email info@cascadecomp.com.

Who can get a ride?

You are eligible for a free ride to your covered appointment if:

  • You are on the Oregon Health Plan and enrolled in Cascade Health Alliance.
  • Your appointment is at an approved drop off location.
  • You cannot find any other way to get to the appointment.
  • Children ages 12 and under must travel with a parent or guardian who is at least 18 years old.

When to call?

Please call at least two business days before the appointment to schedule a ride. This will help make sure we can meet your ride needs. You can get a same or next-day ride. However, if your request is on short notice, and demand for rides is high, we prioritize medically urgent rides. You can set up more than one ride at a time for multiple appointments. You can schedule rides for future appointments up to 90 days in advance.
