Benevolent Fund

The Cascade Comprehensive Care and Cascade Health Alliance Benevolent Fund

The Benevolent Fund (BF) provides a means for Cascade Comprehensive Care (CCC) to fund non covered medical services for Cascade Health Alliance (CHA) members that will significantly improve their health outcomes or quality of life. The Benevolent Fund (BF) is funded on a discretionary basis by CCC as determined by the CCC Board. Services can be covered only to the extent that sufficient funds are available in the BF.

The BF is designated for services that clearly meet medical necessity criteria and fall below the Oregon Health Plan funding line. The BF is to be used for services that are not covered by OHP and are typically covered by Medicare. The BF is not intended to extend coverage after a member exhausts the OHP coverage limit.

Providers can request consideration for BF coverage only for services that have been denied prior authorization due to falling on an unfunded line based on Oregon Health Plan’s prioritized list. Providers can submit requests for consideration in writing by fax to CHA at 541 882 6914 reverencing the member name, DOB and authorization number. Additional supporting documentation not included in the initial authorization request as to how this will benefit the member is helpful to inform Utilization Review Committee decision making.
